A highly skilled, accomplished and experienced advocate and legal counselor, John joined the firm’s litigation department in July 2009 bringing to Deily & Glastetter more than 25-years experience in commercial and other complex litigation, business planning and dispute resolution, and a proven track record in the effective representation of multiple classes of interests in business and insolvency-related disputes, transactions and litigation. Since joining Deily & Glastetter’s litigation team, John has continued to concentrate his efforts in commercial and business counseling, complex business litigation, sophisticated commercial transactions, insolvency related matters and appellate advocacy. Throughout his distinguished legal career, John has represented many diverse clients and client constituencies, including individual and institutional plaintiffs and defendants (including many financial institutions), Creditors' Committees, Trustees, attorneys, law firms and jurists, and has twice been appointed to serve as Chapter 11 Trustee in complicated commercial Chapter 11 cases in the Northern and Southern Districts of New York.
John’s achievements have been consistently recognized with an “AV Preeminent”® peer rating in Litigation, Bankruptcy and Commercial Law by Martindale-Hubbell® and Lawyers.com®. John has been repeatedly recognized (2013-2016) Super Lawyers® in their Upstate New York and Business editions and John enjoys a "Superb" attorney rating from Avvo.com. Prior to joining Deily & Glastetter, LLP, John served as the proprietor of his own civil practice firm, as a partner for more than ten years at the regional law firm then known as DeGraff, Foy, Holt-Harris, Mealey & Kunz, LLP, and as Of Counsel to the Albany litigation firm of Cade & Sanders, PC.
Over the years, John has authored materials, spoken and served as a panel member for legal education programs sponsored by the New York State Bar Association, National Business Institute, Financial Executives Institute and Capital Region Bankruptcy Bar Association. Most recently, John authored an article for NY Litigator Magazine entitled "The Remarkable Invulnerability of the Unconditional Guaranty" published in its Fall, 2016 issue (Volume 21, No. 2).
John is a co-chair and an original member of the New York State Bar Association sponsored Albany, New York CDLHL Committee, which he currently co-chairs and from which he has received multiple volunteer recognition awards. John also serves as a member of the Albany County Bar Association's Standing Committee on Judicial Qualifications which interviews and evaluates the qualifications of judicial candidates within New York's Third Judicial District.
