John E. D'Amico is Counsel to the Firm and a member of the Firm's Corporate Department where he focuses his practice on business law, real estate, structured financing and tax law. In the area of business law, Mr. D'Amico has experience in a wide array of business matters including creation and restructuring of limited liability companies, corporations and partnerships, syndications and private equity transactions. He has served as counsel to investors, financial institutions, underwriters and issuers.
Mr. D'Amico's knowledge and experience in business and tax law has complemented his representation in the area of real estate and structured finance. He has been involved with the restructuring and workout of investments in shopping centers, industrial properties, multifamily dwellings and office buildings. He has particular knowledge and experience in structuring real estate transactions from a tax standpoint and has been counsel to developers and investors, major corporations and financial institutions.
In addition to being Counsel to the Firm, Mr. D'Amico also serves as in-house General Counsel to ARCap REIT, Inc., a Dallas based purchaser and servicer of Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) and commercial real estate lender. He is involved in the structuring and financing of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Real Estate Mortgage Investment Companies (REMICs) and Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDOs).
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr, D'Amico was a corporate, real estate and tax partner at Reid & Riege, P.C. for twenty-six years. He has served as an Adjunct Professor in Real Estate Taxation at the University of Hartford, Barney School and has been listed in America's Best Lawyers since 2001.
