John H. Dudley, Jr. is Counsel to Butzel Long, practicing in the firm's Ann Arbor office. He formerly served on the firm's Board of Directors. He is a graduate of Denison University (B.A., with Honors, 1963), the University of Michigan (M.A., 1968), and Stanford University Law School (LL.B., 1966).
For over 30 years Mr. Dudley has represented employers in labor and employment discrimination litigation matters, and defended other complex environmental, business and education litigation matters. He was lead trial counsel on a complex school desegregation case for the Board of Education for the City of Yonkers, New York, brought by the United States Department of Justice.
Mr. Dudley is a member of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association and is a Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. He is a member of the Michigan State Bar Committee on Civil Procedure and a Master of the Bench with the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law's Chapter of the American Inns of Court. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation, is a former chair of the Board of Directors of the Ann Arbor YMCA, and has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy Law School. He is a Contributing Editor to Civil Appeals (West Group Michigan Practice Guides, 2000) and is listed in Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who in America.
