| Biography | John Clarry serves as counsel in our Corporate Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions Group in Toronto. Between 1956 and 1988, he was a partner of the firm, engaged principally in commercial and general practice. He has an extensive background, chiefly as a senior advisor on banking law and competition matters. Mr. Clarry served for many years as general counsel to the Canadian Bankers Association. He also served as the firm's Managing Partner between 1980 and 1985. Mr. Clarry has lectured widely and acted as chair of the Special Committee on the Combines Investigation Act for the Canadian Bar Association. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and past president of the Toronto Board of Trade and the Canadian Tax Foundation. Mr. Clarry received his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1950 and his BA from the University of Toronto in 1947. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1950. Mr. Clarry serves as a director for several charitable organizations. (Retired)
