Experience
John is an experienced government, banking, securities, M&A, and bond lawyer. He has handled numerous IPO's and private placement of securities. John also has served as bond counsel for many municipal bond issues. He has served as bond counsel to the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County. He has organized and performed legal services for several federal and state banks and currently serves as counsel for SunTrust Bank, BB&T, First Citrus Bank, Citrus and Chemical Bank, Regions Bank, Pilot Bank, Riverside National Bank of Florida, Synovus Bank, Bank of Naples, First Manatee Bank, RBC Centura Bank, among other financial institutions. John served as general counsel of the Tampa Sports Authority, a public agency that manages Raymond James Stadium and three City owned golf courses from 2000 to 2008.
Background
John was born in Albany, New York and graduated as Salutatorian from Union College with a B.A. degree in 1957. In 1960, he graduated from Harvard Law School. He served as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate Generals Corp from 1961 to 1964, receiving the Army Commendation Medal for his service as a court martial prosecutor. He joined the Tampa law firm of Shackleford, Farrior, Stallings & Evans in 1964, which later merged with GrayRobinson. John is a member of the Florida and New York Bars.
