| Mr. Kobus concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate and real estate law. He has experience in counseling clients on private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, commercial and industrial leasing, sale and disposition of commercial property, purchase of distressed debt and commercial real estate loans, and a wide variety of other corporate and real estate transactional matters. He has also served as general corporate counsel to privately held businesses including middle market manufacturers and distributors, start-up entities, and service providers. Represented Activ Financial Services, Inc. in connection with a sale of Preferred Shores to Bessemer Venture Partners. Represented the Chicago Park District in connection with the negotiation of its concession management agreement with joint venture owned by U.S. Equities Realty and Levy Restaurants. Represented the Chicago Park District in connection with the negotiation of its beverage agreement with Pepsi. Represented Exide Technologies in connection with its acquisition of Ingalls Power Products. Represented Classified Ventures in connection with its acquisition of substantially all of the assets of ApartmentHomeLiving.com. Represented Mc Really Partners in connection with a variety of industrial leasing transactions. Represented Ryan Companies in connection with real sales transactions with IKSA. Represented Denis Garberg & Associates, Inc. along with The Sunflower Group in its acquistion of a Canadian marketing service organization. Represented real estate investment funds in their investments in a variety of commercial real estate developments in Illinois and Arizona. Represented Larsen Manufacturing in its acquisition of commercial real estate located in Mundelein, Illinois. Also represented Larsen in its acquisition of substantially all of the assets of Wand Pool Company, a manufacturer of pool depaneling systems. Represented financial institution in purchase of distressed debt and commercial real estate loans. Represented Talent Drive, LLC in connection with multiple captial raises, contract review, and corporate counseling.
Prior to joining our firm, he practiced in the corporate and real estate law groups of a Chicago-based firm and prior to that with Kirkland & Ellis in their mergers & acquisitions and venture capital groups.
Mr. Kobus graduated from Augustana College at Rock Island, Illinois with a B.A. in Accounting and Finance in 1992. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1995. Mr. Kobus is admitted to practice in Illinois and Indiana.
