John is a member in the firm's Boston office and practices in the Litigation Section. His practice focuses on civil litigation and white collar criminal defense. He also concentrates on conducting internal investigations on behalf of for-profit and non-profit organizations. John's experience in state and federal courts includes: · Representing a public contractor in a 2007 federal criminal trial and civil qui tam action involving allegations of federal highway fraud · Conducting a four-month internal investigation of a major financial services company's market timing and late-trading practices, and reporting recommendations to the Board of Directors · Conducting an internal investigation of a NASDAQ-listed company regarding disclosure of a bribery and kickback scheme · Representing a major national insurance company in an internal investigation of sales agents, including subsequent criminal and civil litigation · Conducting an internal investigation on behalf of a national ambulance company · Conducting an internal investigation of a foreign subsidiary's CEO, including subsequent litigation and arbitration. Before joining Mintz Levin in 1980, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney and as an Assistant District Attorney in Massachusetts. He has acted as primary trial counsel or as co-counsel in over 60 state and federal jury and non-jury trials. He is a past Chairman of the Boston Bar Association Criminal Law Section, and he has been named as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer. John is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, and is a member of the American, Massachusetts, and Boston Bar Associations. He received his B.S., cum laude, from Boston College (1969) and his J.D. from Boston College Law School (1973), where he was a member of the Law Review. John has served as Chairman of Law Day and as a member of the Alumni Council at Boston College Law School. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Malden Catholic High School, and is Chairman of the Board of Advisors of Project Hope, serving families in Roxbury and Dorchester, Massachusetts.
