John's legal practice focuses on appellate and post-trial advocacy, dealing with a wide variety of substantive matters. He also assists insurance clients regarding coverage matters and continues to prepare memos on his clients' behalf at various stages of litigation. John began his legal career as a court attorney with the Appellate Division, First Department, and then spent ten years as law secretary to Associate Justice Joseph P. Sullivan. In this capacity, John worked closely with the Judge on a myriad of matters, both civil and criminal.
In 1990 John became an associate with the law firm of Donovan Parry Walsh and Repetto, where he focused his practice in aviation law and defense of personal injury maritime lawsuits. He then rejoined the Appellate Division, First Department in 1998, where he served as a supervisor of court attorneys. John was also assigned to special projects, which included working on the elimination of the court's lengthy backlog on decisions, a project which resulted in bringing the caseload current. He also worked with Associate Justice Eugene Nardelli from 2008 to 2010. John retired from the Appellate Division in 2010 and commenced work with Marshall Dennehey on an of counsel basis in 2011.
John attended Regis HighSchool in New York City. He then went on to attend the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated in 1972. John earned his juris doctor from New York Law School in 1975. John has also taught in the Paralegal Studies Program at New York University.
