John M. Lazarus, a partner and registered patent attorney with Foley & Lardner, is a member of the firm's Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies and Green Energy Technologies Practices. He is also a member of the Energy Industry Team.
Mr. Lazarus provides counseling relating to patent preparation, prosecution and enforcement, product design, and patent infringement matters and prepares intellectual property agreements, patent opinions, and due diligence opinions. He also counsels a wide variety of companies regarding patent prosecution strategies and patent portfolio coordination.
Mr. Lazarus has worked with large and small corporations in a wide variety of technical disciplines, including automotive technologies, refrigeration systems and products, medical devices, lighting systems and technology, clean/green technologies, including battery and battery charger products and systems, solar collection/tracking systems and water purification and reclamation systems, tools and craft/decor products, packaging devices, commercial cooking systems and other consumer, commercial, and industrial products and technologies.
A registered professional engineer in the state of New York, Mr. Lazarus worked as an engineering supervisor with the New York Power Authority, overseeing nuclear safety system and power production equipment reliability, and demonstrating compliance with federal regulations.
Mr. Lazarus earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering, summa cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Engineering in 1993 and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1984. He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law.
Mr. Lazarus is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and the Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin.
Mr. Lazarus was named to the 2006 list of Wisconsin Super Lawyers - Rising Stars by Law & Politics Media, Inc. for his mechanical & electromechanical technologies work.
