John M. Moore is an associate in the firm's Life Insurance & Annuities Practice Group.
John has represented various life insurers with regard to a number of issues, including claims obligations, structured settlements, the secondary market for life insurance, and stranger-originated life insurance (STOLI). He is a member of the firm's long-term care insurance team, in which capacity he has represented long-term care insurance carriers in litigation initiated by insureds. He is also a member of the firm's privacy team, in which capacity he advises clients in the insurance industry with regard to their obligations under HIPAA, HITECH, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the federal Red Flag Rule regarding identity theft, and various other state and federal statutes and regulations. He has also advised non-insurer clients in issues regarding title insurance, environmental insurance, and workers' compensation insurance.
John was originally a member of the firm's Corporate & Securities Practice Group, where he represented a variety of companies, both public and private, in a number of matters, including the private sale of a portfolio company, financing by a lender of private transactions, preparation of a tender offer by a publicly traded company, and the preparation of quarterly and annual public filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also assisted in the development of a treatise and set of forms meant to guide those seeking to establish a limited liability company under the laws of Pennsylvania.
In General. John currently serves as the Secretary of the Long Term Care International Forum, Inc., an organization that strives to educate those in the long term care insurance industry about emerging issues in that field. He recently assisted in developing and delivering a presentation involving strategies for litigation avoidance at the Long Term Care International Forum, Inc.'s annual forum.
John received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he was the recipient of the Dean's Award in Not-for-Profit Organizations. He simultaneously received his M.B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza College of Business. John earned his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in business administration with a concentration in management-consulting and a supplemental major in political science from the University of Notre Dame.
