John P. Fischer, a partner in Barnes & Thornburg LLP's Indianapolis, Indiana office, joined the firm in September, 1997. He practices in the Litigation Department. Mr. Fischer's litigation practice includes commercial litigation, with a concentration on insurance coverage issues. He is a member of the firm's Appellate Practice Group and the Policyholder Insurance Recovery and Coverage Practice Group. Mr. Fischer has presented seminar lectures on bad faith issues in the insurance context.
Mr. Fischer graduated summa cum laude from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington in May 1997, earning the West Publishing Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Book Award. He served as a managing editor of the Indiana Law Journal in 1996-1997. His Note, "Computers as Agents: A Proposed Approach to Revised UCC Article 2," was published in the 72nd volume of the Indiana Law Journal.
Mr. Fischer received his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in government and international studies from the University of Notre Dame in 1993.
Mr. Fischer is a member of the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. In 2003, he was named to the Indianapolis Bar Association's inaugural Leadership Series Program. Mr. Fischer is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, and the Northern District of Illinois.
