Experience
Worked on teams handling the following matters:
Trade secret misappropriation and breach of license for an aerospace manufacturing company, Lead counsel representing an aerospace products and defense parts manufacturing company, plaintiff, in a trade secret misappropriation and breach of license case. Allegations against the defendant involved claims that the defendant misused the plaintiff's trade secrets-technical data relating to a U.S. Anti-Submarine Warfare Aircraft (of which the plaintiff is the original equipment manufacturer)-to perform a direct commercial sales contract to refurbish and modernize aircraft owned by the Republic of Korea. Jury verdict for plaintiff. Case settled after trial.
Charles Wittenstein Legal Research Project, Kilpatrick Stockton summer associates participate in the Charles Wittenstein Project of the Anti-Defamation League. There, they research and prepare memos in response to real-life issues affecting the civil rights of citizens in the Southeast.
Litigation defense for real estate development firm, Represented a real estate development firm in action arising from a dispute with a law firm in San Diego. The California law firm had obtained a default judgment against it in California; the action in Atlanta sought enforcement of that California judgment. We convinced the Court to grant summary judgment to our client and make an explicit finding that the California judgment was void.
Putative nationwide class action for national telecommunications company, Represented a national telecommunications company in a putative nationwide class action in which the plaintiff was represented by a leading Alabama plaintiff's firm. We successfully moved to compel arbitration on behalf of a client and its affiliates.
William A. Harris, Sr. v. Equifax Information Services LLC and Byerson v. Equifax Information Services LLC, Represented Equifax in these putative class actions asserting claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The plaintiff sought to certify a nationwide class consisting of consumers holding Capital One credit cards, alleging that Equifax and other credit reporting agencies violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by allegedly substituting consumers' "high balance" for their "credit limits" when reporting consumers' Capital One accounts. The matter was actively litigated for over two years. In June 2009, the court granted Equifax's Motion for Summary Judgment on all of Plaintiff's claims. No appeal was taken.
William A. Harris, Sr. v. Equifax Info. Servs., LLC, No. 06-01810 (D.S.C. filed June 15, 2006) and Byerson v. Equifax Info. Servs., LLC, No. 06-582 (E.D. Va.).
Breach of contract and fraud case for telecommunication company, Serving as lead counsel for a large telecommunication company, the firm won a motion to dismiss claims alleging breach of rights of way agreement.
