John Pearson is a partner in our Business Law Group and our Life Sciences Group practising in our Vancouver and Calgary offices. His practice is focused primarily on companies and other organizations in the life sciences and health care industries.
John has represented clients in the pharmaceutical, drug discovery, genomics, medical devices and health care fields. He has negotiated and advised on structure and terms of numerous commercial transactions, including research and development collaborations, licenses, co-promotions, and manufacturing and distribution agreements. He also advises on legal issues in connection with delivery of health care services and structuring of commercial transactions for public-private partnerships for the delivery of health care services.
In addition to commercial transactions for our clients in the life sciences and health care industries, John advises on matters of corporate and business law including strategies for incorporation and organization, mergers and acquisitions, financing, governance and shareholder agreements. John also has a long history of advising clients in the hospitality industry, including operators of restaurant and hotel chains, on franchising, partnerships, joint ventures and other commercial arrangements.
John appears in the 2010 edition of Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, a guide to the leading law firms and practitioners in Canada, as a leading lawyer in the area of biotechnology.
John received a BA in 1968 from Simon Fraser University and his LLB in 1971 from Dalhousie University Law School. He received an LLM in 1972 from the University of London, England, and is a former Managing Partner of McCarthy Tétrault's Vancouver office.
