Biography

Jonathan Damon has extensive experience in information technology, intellectual property and civil litigation. After law school, he clerked for the Hon. Charles H. Tenney in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Mr. Damon then entered private practice; his practice is in information technology, data security, intellectual property and record retention issues.

Mr. Damon regularly counsels clients on technology, software, copyright, and related intellectual property matters in both corporate and litigation contexts, with attention to securing and protecting clients' rights. He advises clients on, drafts and negotiates technology transfers, intellectual property licenses and transition services agreements in the M&A context. He counsels clients on software development, outsourcing projects and information technology consulting arrangements. Mr. Damon regularly provides advice regarding Internet services, including Web sites, terms of use, privacy policies and hosting agreements.

Mr. Damon advises clients regarding record retention projects, FRCP compliance, electronically stored information, and e-discovery as well as designing legal hold policies and procedures. He also regularly counsels clients on data security matters, including responses to data breaches.

With respect to litigation, Mr. Damon has worked on software and other copyright matters, complex class action antitrust litigation, insurance coverage defense, commercial contract and tort cases. His experience spans a diverse range of industries, from insurance and energy to music, motion pictures, software, legal partnerships and commercial real estate.
