Biography

Jonathan Book helps financial, corporate, non-profit and public entity clients achieve their objectives in commercial real estate transactions. He advises them on the leasing, acquisition, sale and financing of properties, and advises on related construction, land use and zoning matters. In these transactions Jonathan drafts and negotiates the leases, financing documents, purchase agreements and design and construction contracts. On the financing side he has represented major banks and other institutional lenders, as well as private borrowers, in real estate and asset-based financing and loan restructuring transactions. Jonathan also helps state government agencies and municipalities with property acquisition, disposition and economic development. Before joining Foley Hoag, Jonathan was associated with another national law firm.

Representative Experience

The following is a brief summary of Jonathan's experience and accomplishments:

· Represented the Institute of Contemporary Art in connection with the development, financing and construction of its new facility on the Boston waterfront

· Represented various municipalities and their redevelopment agencies (including the City of Revere, City of Cambridge, Town of Arlington, City of Springfield and City of Malden) in land disposition matters to support urban renewal projects

· Helped a private conservation organization with the acquisition and restriction of more than 1,000 acres of land for conservation purposes.

· Represented a major software developer with the negotiation of a 350,000 square foot office lease and subsidiary subleases

· Worked with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and the Massachusetts Highway Department in a variety of matters concerning the Central Artery/Tunnel Project

· Associate Member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Brookline, MA
