JONATHAN (JON) W. PARTHUM is a patent lawyer in the firm's Electrical Patent Prosecution practice group. He prosecutes patent applications for a variety of technologies including printers, optics, consumer electronics, wireless communication, and software. He also drafts patents and provides client counseling. In addition, Mr. Parthum has experience in the appeals process, such as drafting appeal documents and conducting oral hearings at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Prior to joining Oblon, Spivak, Mr. Parthum worked as a software engineer for Kollmorgen Electro-Optical and BAE Systems. At Kollmorgen, Mr. Parthum updated and tested embedded software to control optronic mast systems and also gained experience with electronic imaging and integrated sensor optics. At BAE, Mr. Parthum designed, implemented, and tested embedded software on various infrared jamming systems to control movement and tracking for laser targeting.
Mr. Parthum is the author of "Patent Reform: The Debate Continues Into 2010," published in the Fourth Annual Practicing Law Institute Handbook.
