Practice/Industry Group Overview

Jones Day lawyers have dealt with the antitrust or competition agencies of more than 50 countries. Our antitrust partners include alumni of antitrust agencies around the world, among them the European Commission and both U.S. federal antitrust agencies. Moreover, we are the only firm to have had two of its antitrust partners selected, within a period of just four years, to head both U.S. antitrust agencies.

Our counseling experience incorporates the full range of antitrust and competition issues, including monopolization and attempted monopolization, distribution and pricing practices, refusals to deal, exclusive dealing, teaming agreements, licensing, setting standards, criminal antitrust investigations, state aid, and premerger notification. Based on this broad experience, we can provide practical advice on dealings with competitors and customers that enables compliance with competition rules while meeting business goals.

Our counseling work includes such clients as Allied Waste, Bayer, British Petroleum, the Campbell Soup Company, CIGNA, Clear Channel Communications, Dell, GenCorp/Aerojet, International Steel Group, Liberty Media, Nextel, Viacom, and Texas Instruments.
