Practice/Industry Group Overview
United States military actions around the globe and an expanding homeland security program have resulted in significant scrutiny of government hardware and service providers. The United States Department of Justice, the Inspectors General in fifty-seven departments of the federal government, and private litigants pursuing fraud claims under the False Claims Act, are very active and often aggressive in pursuing perceived fraud by government suppliers.
Jones Day CCI lawyers have for many years represented government contractors in the most complex criminal and civil investigations and cases, involving defective pricing, CAS questions, product quality and testing, "revolving door" and gratuities issues, and handling of procurement-sensitive information. We also regularly conduct internal investigations for clients in connection with voluntary disclosure and compliance reviews. When handling such cases, our CCI lawyers work closely with experienced lawyers from our Government Contracts practice.
