The firm was founded by former Governor Sam Houston Jones at the expiration of his term of office in 1944. The firm's traditional representation of area petrochemical and chemical industries has expanded in recent years to include representation of governmental entities regarding public law issues, employment litigation, benefits (ERISA), collective bargaining and personal injury and worker's compensation defense. The firm also has been, and is, very active in the financial community, having initiated the organization of a national bank and a federal savings and loan association, both of which have long contributed to the economic growth of the area under the firm's legal guidance.
