Jose Estandia is a corporate attorney with experience in transactions related to the development and financing of infrastructure projects, including among others, power, renewable energy, natural gas, and port terminals.
Jose has advised lenders, developers, buyers, and sellers in transactional negotiations; assisted in the preparation of corporate documentation; advised on negotiation and instrumentation of project agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPA), engineering, procurement, and construction contracts (EPC), and operation and maintenance contracts (O& M); performed analysis of permits and governmental authorizations required for the development of projects; and assisted on bid processes, including the preparation of bid proposals. He has advised on designing and implementing schemes for the development and financing of infrastructure projects, including the preparation of financing and security agreements. He also has participated in several transactions related to electricity projects called by the Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) under the modality of independent power producers and private power generation projects.
In addition, Jose has extensive experience in major merger and acquisition transactions, particularly in the steelmaking and manufacturing industries in Mexico.
His energy law practice includes counseling on regulatory issues, filing of requests for regulatory authorizations, energy general compliance, and negotiation and implementation of power supply agreements.
Jose is a member of the Mexican Academy of Energy Law (Academia Mexicana de Derecho Energetico).
