A member of Husch Blackwell's Financial Services team, Joe has primarily focused his practice on tax and estate matters for more than 20 years. He provides counsel to clients in the areas of estate and tax planning, probate, trust, tax preparation and representation before the Internal Revenue Service on matters of audits, appeals, and tax court petitions and collections issues. He also advises in the area of elder law.
Joe regularly assists clients in preparing estate planning documents and offers advice on estate planning. He has extensive knowledge of the unique planning requirements of husbands and wives with children from prior marriages. Joe also has expertise in the areas of probate and estate administration and is familiar with the distinctive challenges of settling final affairs.
In the area of taxation, Joe has extensive experience ranging from assisting clients with unfiled income tax returns, to representation relating to outstanding tax liabilities, trust fund recovery penalty assessment, IRS audit appeals and tax court representation.
Joe's work on behalf of industry clients includes:
•Representing a national banking company in a fiduciary tax compliance and advisement engagement.
Representing national and regional bank trust departments in estate and trust matters.
Adding to his experience, Joe was previously engaged with bank trust departments where he advised on issues unique to this area of taxation.
