| Biography | Joe Kasimer has more than thirty years' experience representing general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers and material producers throughout the United States, primarily in the Washington metropolitan area. His practice primarily involves disputes over road, bridge, utility and highway construction, site work and foundation projects. He's been listed in The Best Lawyers in America as a construction litigator and named a Virginia and District of Columbia Super Lawyer. He appeared in the 2010 Greater Washington Legal Elite list published in Washington SmartCEO. Before joining Rees Broome, he was for many years one of the founders and name partners at Kasimer & Annino, a construction law firm with offices in Falls Church and Leesburg, Virginia.
In addition to an active litigation practice, Joe is an experienced public speaker and author in the construction field, and has presented lectures and articles related to construction management, project scheduling and claims protection. He has spoken on behalf of The Construction Specifications Institute, Engineering News-Record, Masterbuilders of Iowa, Heavy Construction Contractors Association, Virginia Masonry Association, The Virginia Road and Transportation Builders, Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance, The Government Contracts Learning Center, The Small Business Administration, Northern Virginia Community College and the District of Columbia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He has frequently been invited to speak at the Construction Specifications Institute National Convention and the Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors National Association Convention.
He has been an arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association, National Arbitration Forum and the Fairfax County Department of Consumer Affairs. He was also named as a member of a joint contractor/owner committee that drafted the Virginia Department of Transportation's Dispute Resolution Board specifications.
