Biography

Joseph Welter is a partner in the nearly 200-lawyer firm of Goldberg Segalla. His practice has included the representation of companies and carriers in product liability, pharmaceutical, medical device, and toxic tort litigation. He has litigated and managed mass tort claims across the country in the pharmaceutical and medical device areas, which has included federal court multi-district litigations and state court mass tort programs. He is the co-editor of Life Science Matters , Goldberg Segalla's blog covering the latest legal developments involving medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Joe has worked with clients to develop effective strategic litigation plans and settlement matrixes for mass tort claims in this unique litigation setting.

Joe is co-chair of the firm's Toxic Torts Practice Group, in which he has a specific focus on asbestos litigation. Over the past 20-plus years, Joe has served as national, regional, and local trial counsel for prominent manufacturers, distributors, and contractors in asbestos litigation, primarily in New York and Pennsylvania. He is a frequent lecturer across the country regarding cutting edge asbestos-related issues and routinely writes on national developments in this area.

Joe possesses an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest available rating, and has been selected for inclusion in Business First's Who's Who in Law, New York Super Lawyers, and Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition.
