Professional Experience Mr. Scully's civil litigation practice includes insurance and reinsurance disputes and product liability defense. Joseph has litigated various matters in state and federal courts throughout New England, including insurance disputes, product liability actions, commercial disputes, professional liability actions, and claims under ERISA. He has successfully handled appeals in the First Circuit and the Massachusetts and Rhode Island appellate courts. In the insurance context, Joseph represents and advises insurance companies in a wide variety of matters involving coverage disputes, allegations of unfair trade practices, and bad faith claims. He also has extensive experience handling reinsurance arbitrations for both cedents and reinsurers. Joseph served as law clerk for The Honorable Edward F. Harrington, U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
