Joe's primary practice focuses on representing corporations as debtors-in-possession and other major constituents in chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. Joe has been recognized by The Deal as a "Top Bankruptcy Lawyer," was named an "Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyer" by Turnaround & Workouts and was a 2011 finalist in M&A Advisor's "40 Under 40 Recognition Awards."
Among other engagements, Joe currently represents Pure Beauty Salons & Boutiques, Inc. and an affiliate in their chapter 11 bankruptcy cases filed on October 4, 2011. Pure Beauty Salons sell beauty products and services in over 400 retail and salon locations throughout the United States.
In 2010-2011, Joe was lead bankruptcy counsel for Trade Secret, Inc. and its affiliated debtors-in-possession. The sale of Trade Secret through a court-approved process was awarded the 2011 Turnaround Award - Consumer & Retail Products by The M&A Advisor.
Joe also currently represents a lending syndicate in the In re HSH Delaware GP LLC, et al. chapter 11 cases. The debtors in the HSH Delaware cases own a minority interest in the German Landesbank HSH Nordbank AG and are advised by J.C. Flowers & Co. LLC. The HSH Delaware matter has involved proceedings in Delaware, the Cayman Islands, England and Canada. Litigation commenced by the lending syndicate represented by Joe resulted in the consensual restructuring of approximately half a billion dollars in loans.
In addition to representing corporate debtors, Joe represents a number of other parties-in-interest in large chapter 11 bankruptcies, including official and unofficial committees, members of official committees, individual creditors, lenders and/or lending agents and strategic and financial bidders/acquirers.
