Joseph M. Oliver, Jr. is a Senior Counsel in the firm's Energy group and is resident in the DC office.
His practice is focused on the representation of natural gas and electric utilities in rate and service proceedings. He has practiced before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) since 1979. Joe's relevant experience includes representing Commonwealth Electric Co. of Boston in various proceedings over a number of years. For example, he represented the company in connection with the acquisition of fuel supply, formal rate investigations, and the sale and disposal of electric generating assets. Joe has also represented electric utilities and industrial companies in securing authorization from FERC to make sales of electricity at market-based rates.
He received a BA in 1967 from the University of Virginia and a law degree from the University of Georgia in 1970. Joe is a member of the bars of the State of Georgia and the District of Columbia.
