Experience

Joe is a Shareholder who focuses and specializes in the areas of commercial and construction litigation as well as professional liability defense. Joe's commercial litigation practice focuses on complex business disputes and complex, commercial landlord-tenant actions. For matters pertaining to construction litigation and professional liability defense, Joe represents a wide range of clients including engineers, architects, developers, owners, contractors and insurers involving a broad scope of construction disputes as well as claims involving catastrophic injuries. Joe also has trial experience in various fields including medical malpractice defense, complex tort claims and products liability.

Joe has also been privileged to lecture at various seminars on the topics of defending design professionals and ethical considerations and other responsibilities of counsel retained to defend policyholders by liability insurance companies.

Background

Joe was born in Sanford, Florida and raised in Ocala, Florida. He attended Florida State University where he received his B.A. in History. Joe received his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University. Joe currently resides in Windermere, Florida. Prior to joining GrayRobinson, Joe was an associate with one of the largest insurance defense firms in Florida. There, Joe gained valuable trial experience in the fields of complex tort claims and medical malpractice defense and was mentored by several outstanding trial lawyers.

In 2006, Joe joined GrayRobinson's litigation group as an associate and has worked hard to provide his clients with outstanding customer service, good value and favorable results. Joe believes that hard work, responsiveness, respecting and caring for his clients and colleagues as well as maintaining a high professional standard for himself form the cornerstones of a successful law practice.

Key Cases And Results

· M&H University Shoppes, LLLP v. Great China Restaurant, Inc., et. al. - Obtained summary judgment in favor of landlord in complex commercial landlord-tenant action.

· Camp v. Community Supports, Inc. et. al. - Defeated Plaintiff's Motion to Amend Complaint to Add Punitive Damages against multiple corporate entities after oral argument in complex wrongful death action. Denial of motion resulted in favorable settlement to client.

· Mariner Club v. Summit Contractors, Inc. - Represented owner in Multi-million dollar construction claim based on damages to a multi-family apartment complex as a result of water intrusion; Contractor obtained Summary Judgment in November 2008 and owner appealed. Following submission of complex appellate briefs and oral argument, 1st DCA ultimately reversed award of summary judgment and remanded case back to trial court resulting in favorable settlement to Owner.
