Joseph V. Marra III is a litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
Mr. Marra has worked in a variety of commercial dispute contexts in both state and federal courts, including professional negligence and fraud defense, antitrust class action, private mediation, and civil appeals. He has extensive experience in the defense of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty claims in the accounting context, as well as with electronic discovery procedures.
Mr. Marra currently serves as a member of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles ("LAFLA") Associates Advisory Board, and administers Gibson Dunn's unlawful detainer defense program in connection with LAFLA. He has personally dedicated hundreds of hours successfully defending unlawful detainer actions for pro bono clients, and has supervised the defense of many others.
Mr. Marra received his law degree in 2005 from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall), where he was Managing Editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, for which he wrote "Playboy Enters. Inc. v. Netscape Communications Corp.: Making Confusion a Requirement for Online Initial Interest Confusion", 20 Berkeley Tech. L.J. 209 (2005). He received a B.A. degree magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 2002 from the University of Southern California.
Mr. Marra is admitted to practice in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
