Judson Whiteside is a partner in the Business Law Group of Miller Thomson in Markham. Mr. Whiteside's extensive experience spans a wide range of corporate and commercial law, and includes special expertise in direct sales law, sports law and information technology.
A Senior Partner of the firm, Mr. Whiteside acts for a diverse group of clients, ranging from major financial institutions and corporations to small, owner-operated service and manufacturing companies.
He has substantive experience in all aspects of general commercial law, and consults regularly with clients who require input on day to day business decisions, in addition to major transactions and business initiatives. Whenever necessary, he involves the appropriate specialized practice areas within the firm to provide multi-disciplinary services to respond to the needs of clients.
Mr. Whiteside acts for direct-sales companies, on a national and international basis, who are challenged by extensive and constantly changing government legislation. He frequently advises on matters related to compliance with the Competition Act, and its impact on various elements of their business. His expertise and knowledge of the Competition Bureau help to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
Having practised litigation law earlier in his career, Mr. Whiteside has an appreciation for what to anticipate in a litigious situation and how best to prepare for it, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of proceeding with the litigation process.
Understanding the gravity and importance of each client's individual requirements, he is dedicated to providing timely, practical counsel. His loyal, responsive and people-oriented approach has earned long-standing client relationships, many of which span his entire career.
Mr. Whiteside was a member of the Executive Committee of Miller Thomson from 1982 to 2007 and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the firm from 1992 to 2007.
