Jud Virtue's practice covers a broad range of commercial litigation, including intellectual property enforcement, property tax appeals, environmental contamination claims and class action defence.
Mr. Virtue has conducted proceedings in the courts of Alberta and British Columbia and before the Federal Court of Canada. He has conducted appeals in the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He regularly represents clients before the Alberta Municipal Government Board, the Alberta Securities Commission and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
Mr. Virtue is the chair of our property tax practice group and has been a partner since February 1999.

ˇ Several downtown Calgary office towers in an appeal before the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench
ˇ Several large regional shopping centres in appeals before the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench
ˇ The property tax consultant of ten downtown Calgary office towers and seven regional shopping centres, collectively valued in excess of C$5.7 billion, in assessment appeals before the Assessment Review Board
ˇ The owners or managers of approximately 160 industrial warehouses in Calgary in respect of a judicial review before the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench
Environmental Litigation
ˇ The defendant in a class action suit alleging environmental contamination of several thousand residential and corporate properties in Calgary
ˇ The owner of lands in the Town of Banff in a lawsuit that successfully forced the tenant, a major oil company, to demolish its service station and clean up the contaminated lands
ˇ The defendant in a claim in Federal Court of Canada seeking to overturn the approval of a major expansion of a landmark hotel property in Banff National Park
Intellectual Property Litigation
ˇ A national parts supplier in several trade-mark and counterfeiting enforcement proceedings in the Federal Court of Canada
