Julianne Hartzell

Working with inventors and corporations in the fields of consumer products, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and internet technology, Julianne M. Successfully defended three of the nation's largest internet retailers, with combined annual revenues in excess of $10 billion, against the alleged infringement of early e-commerce patents for electronic shopping carts and HTTP methods. Satisfactorily resolved patent infringement and false advertising claims against my client, a leading manufacturer of tool holders, completely avoiding costly discovery and trial expenses. Background and Credentials: Ms. Hartzell brings strong experience as a litigator protecting her clients' intellectual property rights and defending those accused of infringement. She has served as primary litigation counsel in a copyright jury trial, and participated on multiple trial teams resolving cases through summary disposition or favorable settlement. Ms. Hartzell earned her J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School in 2001, and participated in the Child Advocacy Law Clinic. As a student, she also interned for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, where she received valuable courtroom experience. Her technical ability has been proven in her work, and is evident in her early training. She obtained her B.S. in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University in 1998. As an undergraduate, she interned with Procter & Gamble and Visteon (then a division of Ford Motor Company), and also worked as a research assistant focusing on MRI imaging technology and failure analysis.
