Senior Partner K.J. Cabodi has 30 years of transactional and trial experience, with special emphasis in handling high exposure claims. He has extensive experience in the litigation of claims involving major personal injury and/or wrongful death. In one case, Mr. Cabodi successfully defended clients sued for wrongful death alleged to have been caused by the smoking of clove cigarettes. In a lawsuit involving fires that resulted in multiple fatalities, he successfully obtained the complete dismissal of his client, a manufacturer of electrical wiring. He has successfully defended a broad range of cases, including those ranging from catastrophic burn lawsuits to complex trucking accident lawsuits. Mr. Cabodi is also quite experienced in the handling of complex products liability matters. He successfully defended the manufacturer of an air conditioning system installed at a UCLA laboratory that failed and resulted in the deaths of experimental animals. Representation of developers and general contractors in construction defect litigation is another of Mr. Cabodi's specialties. In addition to representing developers and general contractors, he has represented a myriad of subcontractors in construction defect matters involving claims of defective roofing, ABS piping, framing, windows, and structural engineering and components. He has also successfully represented clients in litigation involving corrosive water and sulfate attack of concrete. Mr. Cabodi also has extensive experience in the handling of real estate and leasehold matters, Federal and State employment/termination claims, and business formation. He is a member of the Southern California Defense Association, the Orange County Bar Association, the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association, The Federation of Insurance Corporate Counsel and is admitted to practice before California State Courts, the U.S. Supreme Court and all federal courts. He is also a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. A 1978 graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law, he associated with an Orange County civil litigation firm before associating with Small, Henstridge in 1981; he became a full partner in 1985.
