Kara Moorcroft Kapke is a litigator in Indianapolis with diverse experience defending chemical manufacturers, media outlets, and other entities in product liability, defamation, and commercial litigation lawsuits. She is a member of Barnes & Thornburg's Toxic Tort Practice Group and Media Practice Group.
Ms. Kapke graduated magna cum laude from Duke University School of Law, where she was elected to Order of the Coif and named Outstanding Student in Dispute Resolution. During law school, she was chosen as a member of the Moot Court Board and an articles editor of the Duke Law Journal. Her student note, The Path to Preclusion: Federal Injunctive Relief Against Nationwide Classes in State Court, has been cited by courts, treatises, and commentators. Following law school, Ms. Kapke clerked for the Honorable Edith Jones, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Prior to law school, Ms. Kapke worked as a journalist in Indiana, Texas, and Pennsylvania. She received her B.A.J. with high distinction from Indiana University, where she was a Wells Scholar.
Ms. Kapke is admitted to practice in the Indiana courts, the Northern and Southern districts of Indiana, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Circuits. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the Indianapolis Bar Association.
