Background
Kara is a partner in Borden Ladner Gervais LLP's Toronto office. Kara graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 2003 with a combined LLB/MPA and was admitted to the bar in Ontario in 2004. Prior to attending law school, Kara received an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 1998 with majors in political science and criminology.
Kara practises in the Commercial Litigation Group at BLG and is a member of the Securities Litigation Focus Group. She routinely represents clients in securities litigation and regulatory proceedings, including broker liability matters, oppression remedies, directors' and officers' liability and proceedings before the Ontario Securities Commission, the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada and the Mutual Fund Dealers Association. Kara has also represented IIROC and the MFDA in relation to investigations and prosecutions.
