Karen Paulin is an Associate in the firm's Louisville office where she is a member of the Employment Law Service Group. She also actively participates with the Health Care and Business Litigation Service Groups.
Recent Assignments
· Assists in the defense of state and federal civil suits involving the Kentucky Civil Rights Act, Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and common law tort actions
· Frequently defends clients in administrative actions with the EEOC, KCHR, OFCCP, DOL, and the Unemployment Insurance Division
· Drafts and advises clients on affirmative action plans under Executive ORder 11246
· Drafts and assists with the enforcement of business contracts, employment contracts, and non-competition and non-solicitation agreements

Before Stites & Harbison
Prior to returning to graduate school to get her J.D. and M.B.A., Karen had a career in human resources. Most recently, Karen was the Vice-President of Human Resources at Metro United Way. She helped guide the management, staff, and volunteers through major organizational events, such as: an executive search for a new CEO, an organizational restructure, a comprehensive employee policy manual revision, a benefits review, and a classification and compensation review.
More Than Stites & Harbison
Karen is a community volunteer, currently serving as an officer on the Board of Directors at GuardiaCare and on the University of Louisville Law School Alumni Council, and as a member of the Metro United Way Human Resources Committee.
Besides Stites & Harbison
Karen and her husband stay busy with five grown children, a granddaughter, several race horses, and a side business. In their spare time, they spend their summers with their family boating, skiing, and tubing.
