Ms. Callahan has practiced law with the Firm since graduating from law school. She has served as Chair of the Firm's Litigation Department and has served on the Firm's hiring and professional committees. Ms. Callahan has also served as a member of the Firm's Board of Directors.
Professional liability defense has been a cornerstone of Ms. Callahan's practice. She has represented physicians, dentists, nurses, hospitals and other health care providers sued for malpractice. In addition, Ms. Callahan has defended lawyers, accountants and members of the design professions in professional liability claims.
She has tried numerous medical malpractice cases and has achieved outstanding results for her clients, including defendants' verdicts in cases alleging the wrongful death of a young man undergoing a stress test, the wrongful death of a twenty-year old burn victim, and the wrongful death of a fifty-year old whose heart disease was allegedly misdiagnosed. Other medical cases which she has handled include claims for catastrophic injury following surgery, delayed and/or missed diagnoses of cancer, nerve injury, paralysis and a particularly notorious case involving an alleged misdiagnosis of HIV.
Ms. Callahan has been equally successful in her representation of lawyers sued for malpractice. Her knowledge of the issues confronting lawyers sued for professional negligence and the particular disadvantages inherent in being a lawyer-defendant have enabled her to successfully resolve many of her clients' cases short of trial. In those cases that do not settle, she has an enviable record of success. She is particularly proud of a defendant's verdict on behalf of a client sued for malpractice arising out of real estate transaction in which plaintiffs attempted to prove that the lawyer represented both buyer and seller. Ms. Callahan has also successfully represented lawyers sued for vexatious litigation and defamation.
To all her cases, Ms. Callahan brings the unique skills of an experienced trial lawyer dedicated to achieving the best possible results for her client.
