Background
Kathryn is a partner at our Toronto office. Kathryn was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2002. She graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Western Ontario in 2000.
Prior to attending law school, Kathryn attended the Dance Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, York University for two years, and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art at Brock University. She also obtained her Primary/Junior level Teaching Certification from Medaille College, Buffalo, New York, and Senior level Certification from Althouse College, University of Western Ontario.
Areas of Practice
· Kathryn is a litigation lawyer practising in the areas of police liability, municipal liability, tort law, occupier's liability and insurance defence including professional negligence.
Professional Experience
· defending police liability claims including malicious prosecution, false arrest, negligence, negligent investigation, assault and breach of Charter rights
· acting as co-counsel at trials, and lead counsel and co-counsel on appeals
· arguing contested motions at Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal
· conducting mediations, examinations for discovery and pre-trial conferences
· defending negligence claims against municipalities involving municipal housing, maintenance and design of roadways and utilities
· defending negligence claims against the Children's Aid Society
