Ms. Richter's experience in the law and in the business sector includes representation of domestic and international companies involved in financial services and banking; real estate development and construction; manufacturing and products liability; agriculture; transportation; telecommunications; and information technology. She has also represented municipalities and special districts. Ms. Richter is a litigator with significant experience in California state and federal courts, as well as bankruptcy courts throughout California. With a diverse history of engagements in complex litigation matters across numerous industries and disciplines, Ms. Richter also represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, and Chapter 11 trustees in complex bankruptcy cases, and has substantial experience in all facets of Chapter 11 bankruptcy work, including plan preparation and confirmation; objections to confirmation; avoidance, preference and automatic stay litigation; and sales under Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. In addition to her other engagements, she serves as Outside General Counsel to a global, public corporation, where she interfaces to the lines of business and to internal Legal Counsel, working effectively to advise, evaluate, and resolve issues and disputes at the pre-litigation stage. She has also been involved in mediation and alternative dispute resolution as an advocate, arbitrator, mediator, and as a special master and private judge, at the request of several courts and parties.
Prior to joining Schnader, Ms. Richter was a partner at Bronson, Bronson & McKinnon, and subsequently served as founding and managing partner of a general litigation and bankruptcy boutique law firm. She also served as founder and principal of Richter Search, Inc., a retained executive search and strategy consulting firm with an international client base, where her clients included large publicly-traded firms as well as smaller, private for-profit and non-profit organizations.
Ms. Richter has been active in the community, particularly in supporting and directing organized youth sports programs and in creating opportunities for youth volunteerism and leadership. She also created a business incubator for emerging women-owned businesses, drawing upon the professional community to support and mentor the selected organization to success with legal, financial, marketing, and industry-specific services and guidance. Ms. Richter is the Administrative Partner of the Firm's San Francisco office.
