About this office:

We win high-stakes federal trials. Since 2003, we have won seven of the last eight: an acquittal in a telemarketing case, an acquittal in a pharmaceuticals trial, a $1.8 million verdict for police brutality, a hung jury in a customs fraud trial, a hung jury in a tax fraud case, an eve-of-trial dismissal, and an acquittal in a state fraud case. The Ninth Circuit granted bail pending appeal in the sole conviction. In the last 19 years, we have obtained numerous dismissals and misdemeanor dispositions, including one in April 2009. Since 1990 we have won many federal trials (acquittals on all counts) and obtained dismissals or pre-trial diversion. We are proud that other firms think of us for appellate work. In our appellate practice, besides winning reversals and resentencing, we have obtained bail on appeal for clients, despite the high standard to obtain such release.

Case Wins:

U.S. v. M. (eve-of-trial dismissal of all charges, 2008).

People v. C. (acquittal in State fraud case, 2007).

U.S. v. K. (found guilty of 4 counts, but Ninth Circuit granted bail pending appeal, 2006).

U.S. v. A. and K. (hung jury in tax fraud case, 2005).

U.S. v. L. (hung jury, customs fraud trial, 2003).

U.S. v. W. (acquittal in pharmaceuticals trial, 2003).

M. v. LAPD ($1.8 million verdict for police brutality, Federal Court, 2003).

U.S. v. R. (acquittal in telemarketing case after 4 1/2 month trial, 2002-03).

Significant Appeals:

U.S. v. Gross, 307 F.3d 1043 (9th Cir. 2002).

U.S. v. Mikaelian, 168 F.3d 380 (9th Cir. 1999).

U.S. v. Mett, 65 F.3d 1531 (9th Cir. 1995).

U.S. v. U.S. District Court, 717 F.2d 478 (9th Cir. 1984).
