Dr. Keith Haddaway, a registered patent attorney, practices all aspects of intellectual property law. He focuses on assisting clients in patenting, protecting and commercializing inventions in a broad range of technical areas including life sciences such as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, diagnostic compounds and methods, cosmetics, and medical devices; commercial chemistry, for example, coatings, catalysts, chemical processes, and petroleum additives; mechanical devices; and designs . Dr. Haddaway regularly counsels clients regarding worldwide portfolio management and strategic development, licensing, and litigation. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications and represents clients in appeals and interferences before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr. Haddaway assists clients in structuring, drafting and negotiating licenses, partnering agreements and joint development arrangements. Dr. Haddaway's experience includes complex patent litigation involving multi-million dollar pharmaceutical compounds. He has also litigated patents in the optical disc industry. He has prepared patentability opinions, patent infringement and freedom to operate opinions.
Dr. Haddaway brings more than 10 years basic and applied chemical research experience to his practice. His research activities in the areas of organic photochemistry, color additive technology and chemical defense have provided in-depth knowledge of organic synthesis, chemical analysis and analytical methods development. Dr. Haddaway has extensive knowledge of commercial chemicals gained from the review of chemicals for the EPA under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Dr. Haddaway also has several years of experience teaching at the college level. The combination of Dr. Haddaway's scientific, chemical, educational and legal background enables him to understand and analyze patentable inventions, and to procure and defend intellectual property rights for his clients. His experience allows him to understand and assist clients with the complex legal and scientific issues that arise at the intersection of science and law.
