Practice/Industry Group Overview

Since its founding, Keker & Van Nest has been asked to defend lawyers and law firms in professional liability litigation against claims of legal malpractice, malicious prosecution, allegations of fraud, conflicts of interests, and breach of fiduciary duty.

Because of the broad trial experience of our attorneys, law firms have asked us to defend claims arising from a wide variety of practice areas, including both transactional work and all areas of litigation. We also regularly represent accounting firms accused of professional negligence.

Because our clients' desire that we do not advertise claims against them, we do not identify our malpractice clients. However, we have represented law firms and individual lawyers in civil proceedings in state and federal courts, State Bar proceedings, criminal proceedings, and arbitrations. Through our work with Attorneys Liability Assurance Society (ALAS), MPC Insurance Limited, we have represented lawyers from a wide variety of states who have been sued in California.

We are proud that other lawyers and professionals turn to us for representation in times of need. We intend to continue devoting our energies to this practice area.
