Kelly McDermott is an associate in the firm's Labour and Employment Group in Toronto.
Ms. McDermott's practice focuses on advising management and preparing and presenting labour and employment matters before administrative tribunals and courts. After articling and practicing at boutique labour and employment law firms, she gained significant exposure to the areas of labour (construction and industrial), employment, human rights, wrongful dismissal, privacy, occupational health and safety, workplace safety and insurance and pension law.
Ms. McDermott is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Canadian Bar Association. Most recently, she has been elected to serve on the Ontario Bar Association as an Executive at Large for the 2009 - 2010 term.
Throughout her education and legal experience, Ms. McDermott has had various papers recommended for publication and has been published by the Ontario Bar Association as part of both labour and employment law lectures.
Ms. McDermott is a graduate of the joint JD/LLB program at the University of Ottawa and Michigan State University where she graduated in the top 10 % of her class. Prior to engaging in her legal career, Ms. McDermott completed her Masters of Political Studies at York University and an Honours BA at Queen's University. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2007.
