Experience
Kenneth J. Cesta heads up the firm's Commercial Litigation Department and is an AV-rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell® with over 20 years of litigation experience in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and numerous other states. He has successfully handled substantial matters at the trial and appellate levels for public, private and governmental clients in a multitude of areas including commercial and financial institution litigation, employment claims on behalf of management, public entity litigation, insurance coverage, professional responsibility, securities litigation, and directors and officers liability. Prior to joining Hoagland Longo in 2011, Ken was a litigation partner with the international law firm of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP, where he served on the firm's Professional Responsibility Committee.
Ken has presented seminars for clients, including Fortune 100 companies and an agency of the U.S. Government, on several topics including managing electronic discovery ("e-discovery") costs during litigation, use of electronic evidence at trial, loss causation and damages in securities fraud actions, and class action trends. Ken has extensive experience developing electronic document protocols and document preservation programs, and regularly counsels clients on their current document retention and production policies.
Ken has devoted significant time throughout his career to pro bono services. He served a four-year term on the District VB Ethics Committee, where he was Vice Chair and Chair of the Committee in his final 2 years of service. He has been appointed on several occasions by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to serve as a Special Ethics Master in complex disciplinary actions brought by the N.J. Office of Attorney Ethics.
Ken has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Oratory Preparatory School, a private high school in Summit, NJ since 2004, and has also served on the Board's Executive Committee and as Chair of the Legal Committee.
