Kightlinger & Gray, LLP's origins date back to 1946 when Erle A. Kightlinger and Mark W. Gray began practicing law together in Indianapolis, Indiana. Although their early practice was general in nature, Erle and Mark placed a strong emphasis on litigation skills. Erle and Mark believed that a litigation background would better enable the firm's attorneys to advise clients on how to avoid the costs and uncertainties of lawsuits when possible and how to minimize the expense and risk when litigation cannot be avoided. This perspective allowed the firm to expand into a broad range of non-litigation practice areas and business advisory services in addition to its traditional litigation practice.
Today, Kightlinger & Gray has more than 25 areas of practice with offices located in five cities: Indianapolis, Evansville, Merrillville, and New Albany, Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky. Kightlinger & Gray opened its Evansville office in 1976, New Albany office in 1991, Merrillville office in 2012, and Louisville office in 2013.
Kightlinger & Gray is well equipped to meet the needs of clients in both the public and private sectors. The firm has approximately 50 attorneys, making it large enough to handle any size matter, yet small enough to provide personalized, responsive service. In addition, as a member of the international law firm networks, Lexwork International and The Harmonie Group, the firm can call on the services of any of the groups' attorneys when an issue outside its jurisdiction arises.
Kightlinger & Gray is best known for its litigation capabilities. However, the firm also provides a broad range of non-litigation services. The firm believes in vigorously promoting the interests of its clients. Whether the client requires litigation or non-litigation skills, Kightlinger & Gray is firmly committed to providing the highest level of professional services at reasonable rates.
