Practice/Industry Group Overview
In Washington, Atlanta and Raleigh, Kilpatrick Stockton lawyers are well positioned to advocate client interests before federal and state agencies, as well as in executive offices and legislative forums. From lobbying to agency litigation to government purchasing, we have a history of successful experience in these capitals. We also have extensive experience with local governments and, on the international level, with governments in Europe, Latin America, and other areas of the world.
Federal Legislation
Our lawyers and non-lawyer lobbyists develop and implement strategies to achieve business objectives, participate in and prepare clients for congressional hearings, and confer with members of Congress and the administration. We counsel clients in congressional and General Accounting Office investigations and represent them before congressional investigating committees. Our attorneys also participate on behalf of clients in national trade association meetings and industry work groups.
Government and Real Estate Acquisition
The firm is widely regarded as having one of the nation's preeminent practices in the field of real estate acquisition by the federal government. We also help clients procure and administer federal and state contracts for goods and services. Our attorneys advise on strategy development and on the preparation of bids, offers, and proposals and litigate bid protests, claims, and other disputes relating to government contracts.
Federal Agencies
Our attorneys help clients both obtain and expedite government approvals and authorizations, and defend clients in agency investigations and enforcement actions. We represent individual businesses and industry groups in rulemaking proceedings. Our attorneys also represent clients in contested agency proceedings and litigate the validity and propriety of final agency decisions.
State and Local Government
Kilpatrick Stockton has broad experience in advocacy before state legislatures, agencies, boards, commissions, and authorities; city councils and county commissions; and local and regional authorities. We also routinely track the process of bills and hearings; meet with legislators and their staff to advocate positions important to our clients; draft and propose amendments and legislative report language; participate in ordinance and rulemaking proceedings; and organize grass roots constituency and media contacts.
International
From our offices in London and Stockholm and through correspondent relationships with law firms in these and other international capitals, we are in touch with government decision-makers wherever our clients' needs require it.
