Kim Ozubko is a counsel in our Pensions, Benefits & Executive compensation Group in Toronto. Her practice includes all legal and regulatory matters relating to the implementation, administration, governance, funding and wind up of pension, group benefit and profit sharing plans. Ms. Ozubko advises clients on the development of pension and other employee benefit plans and has advised extensively on surplus entitlement disputes, plan governance and ongoing regulatory compliance. Her practice also includes providing counsel on pension and benefits matters in corporate reorganizations, acquisitions, mergers and other business transactions. Ms. Ozubko has negotiated and drafted agreements for the administration and funding of pension and benefit plans. Ms. Ozubko is a member of the Executive of the Pension and Benefits Section of the Ontario Bar Association. She has written on the duties of plan administrators, corporate directors and potential liabilities arising from breach of common law and statutory duties. Her most recent speaking engagements include co-chair 2009 and 2010 OBA Pensions and Benefits Hot Spots and "Retiree Benefits - The Costs and Challenges", Employee Pensions and Benefits in Transition", April 27, 2010. Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault, she worked for an international pension consulting firm and in the pensions and benefits group at two international law firms. Ms. Ozubko received a BA (Justice and Law Enforcement, Political Science) from the University of Winnipeg in 1993 and an LL.B from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1997. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1999. |
