Kimela is a member of Husch Blackwells Healthcare, Life Sciences & Pharmaceuticals team. She has represented a major health system with more than 20 hospitals, home health agencies and assisted-living facilities in transactional, contractual and regulatory matters. She has guided clients in complying with the Stark Law, the anti-kickback law, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Her practice also includes handling Medicare and Medicaid compliance; mergers and acquisitions; corporate formation; governance, dissolution and physician alignment strategies; state corporate practice of medicine laws; fee-splitting rules; cost report rules; and complex Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement rules.

In addition, Kimela drafts physician contracts, leases, patient transfer and allied health contracts, along with business and vendor contracts. She also assists in medical staff investigations and peer review activities.
