Kostas is a senior associate in the Corporate & Securities Section whose practice deals with business, finance, and investment-related areas. He advises fund sponsors, investment advisers, asset managers and bank-affiliated entities in connection with the formation and operation of registered investment companies, hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, real estate funds, mutual funds and offshore funds in all aspects of activities, including product development, organization, operations, compliance, marketing, distribution, corporate transactions, and mergers and acquisitions. Kostas also has broad experience with fund mergers and investment adviser change of control issues. He represents a significant number of managers and investors, including universities and endowments, foundations and high net worth individuals, in connection with their investments in private equity, real estate, mezzanine, venture, hedge and other funds.
Kostas regularly represents corporate clients in all types of financings, merger and acquisition transactions, acquisitions, and dispositions of subsidiaries and divisions. He advises and represents clients operating or investing in various industries, including technology, real estate, clean-tech, media, communications, manufacturing, marketing, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.
Kostas has also represented several pro bono non-profit organization clients with respect to formation, and their pursuit of federal tax exempt status.
Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Kostas was associated with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission under the Summer Honors Program. He assisted in the investigatory phase of proposed enforcement actions and focused on various research projects involving market manipulation, financial fraud, insider trading, and securities fraud over the Internet.
Kostas is admitted in Massachusetts and is a member of the American, Massachusetts, and Boston Bar Associations. He currently serves as a member of the Leadership Committee of the Boston College Hellenic Alumni Network. Kostas has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Massachusetts Chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He received his B.S., magna cum laude, in Finance from Boston College and his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, where he served as an editor on the Suffolk Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy and as an invited member of the Moot Court Honor Board.
