As the facets of our community, clients, and Firm change, we are keenly aware that a proactive approach, including leveraging the advantages of a diverse workforce, helps us keep pace with and meet the challenges of today and the future.
The Firm's Diversity Initiative Committee, chaired by a partner heading a team of partners, associates, and HR professionals, is charged with the responsibility of charting a course towards diversity and inclusion for professionals and support staff alike. The initiatives include "Creating Awareness and Celebrating Diversity," "Recruiting, Retaining, and Developing Skilled Legal Professionals," and "Aligning Diversity Initiatives With Our Clients and Community." Recognizing the ambitious nature of these Diversity Initiatives, the Firm is committed to these goals.
The focal points for the Firm's Diversity Initiatives to date include:
- developing and implementing Diversity Initiatives on a firm-wide basis
- actively recruiting minority legal professionals through Indiana's "Gateway to Diversity" and the Cook County (Illinois) Bar Association Minority Law Student Job Fair
- recruiting graduates and laterals to enhance law school diversity
- providing a mentor program for all summer associates and new associates designed to develop the legal, professional, and personal skills necessary to increase professional competence and satisfaction and to reduce attrition
- participating in community activities such as the Indianapolis Affordable Housing Authority that benefit a diverse citizenry maintaining and retaining dynamic and responsive relationships with our clients whose needs constantly change in a diverse world
