As a member of Husch Blackwell's Energy & Natural Resources team, Kyle puts an emphasis on renewable and clean energy products and advises companies as they expand and pursue economic development projects. He identifies and negotiates economic incentive programs that meet his clients' business objectives, and he guides partnerships that integrate public and private stakeholders.
Kyle's industry experience includes:
•Serving as Illinois counsel for FutureGen 2.0 clean coal project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.
•Counseling wind energy clients in Illinois, focusing on tax, land use, zoning and economic development incentives.
•Advising major power-generation clients in arbitration dispute over the construction of two power plants in China.
•Serving as underwriter's counsel for bond issuance on a new $500 million municipally-owned power plant.
Kyle's experience also includes working as a commercial litigator in Chicago with Jenkens & Gilchrist and Hedlund, Hanley & John before he moved to Springfield, Ill. to take a position as Deputy General Counsel for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Most recently he was a partner at McGuireWoods LLP.
•Served as Illinois counsel for FutureGen 2.0 clean coal project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Advised on power-purchase issues with the Illinois Power Agency and Illinois Commerce Commission; public financing with the Illinois Finance Authority; analysis of public utility and Illinois energy legislation; and development of liability management legislation.
•Represented wind energy clients in Illinois, with primary focus on tax, land use, zoning and economic development incentives.
•Represented major power-generation clients in arbitration dispute over the construction of two power plants in China.
•Assisted with due diligence as underwriter's counsel for Springfield's bond issuance to fund a new $500 million municipally owned power plant.
